On September 14th, PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical Company held its 2023 Public Open Day. More than 40 journalists and experts from over 20 mainstream media outlets at the central, provincial, and municipal levels visited the petrochemical plant. Focusing on the themes of technological empowerment and green development, the event showcased the company's positive image in fulfilling its political, economic, and social responsibilities. Through a third-party perspective, the event aimed to guide public opinion, enhance the company's image, and create a favorable public opinion environment for promoting the company's high-quality development.
The media and visiting group first visited the "Petrochemical Light" exhibition hall, a PetroChina corporate spirit education base, to gain a comprehensive understanding of Daqing Petrochemical Company's 61-year development history, remarkable achievements, and outstanding contributions to society. Currently, the company has achieved an industrial scale of "ten million tons of oil refining and one million tons of ethylene production." As of 2022, it had processed a cumulative total of 301 million tons of crude oil and produced 22.1359 million tons of ethylene, achieving operating revenue of 1.0419 trillion yuan and paying 132.7 billion yuan in taxes, effectively supporting the development and prosperity of the national economy.
In the central control room of the chemical industrial park, rows of computers are neatly arranged beneath a huge electronic screen, displaying 35 units from five production plants operating smoothly under intelligent and digital control. Daqing Petrochemical Company is actively implementing the "Digital and Intelligent China National Petroleum Corporation" construction requirements, upgrading its central control room to form a modern production operation command center, striving to create a new era of intelligent factory area.
The debottlenecking and downstream supporting project of the ethylene unit at Daqing Petrochemical's No. 1 Chemical Plant is under construction. "After the project is completed, the annual ethylene production capacity of the E3 unit will increase from 660,000 tons to 780,000 tons, and the ethylene energy consumption will reach the industry's energy efficiency benchmark level, effectively promoting the company's high-quality development," the guide explained, drawing praise from the visitors.
Entering the chemical wastewater upgrading and renovation area of Daqing Petrochemical's water and gas plant, the media and visiting group were amazed to see the wastewater transformed into clear water, repeatedly expressing their admiration. This plant, through upgrading its facilities, has revitalized its wastewater treatment while further achieving energy savings and emission reductions. In the first seven months of this year, the plant treated 4.34 million tons of industrial wastewater, a reduction of approximately 788 tons compared to the same period in 2015, establishing a solid ecological protection barrier for Daqing Petrochemical.
On May 15th, the 400,000-ton/year high-concentration carbon dioxide recovery project was fully completed. This project is the first carbon dioxide capture project in China National Petroleum Corporation's refining, chemical, and new materials sectors. Members of the visiting delegation learned in detail about the company's work in implementing the new development philosophy at the project site and highly praised Daqing Petrochemical Company's efforts in safety, environmental protection, and clean production.
Daqing Petrochemical Company is located adjacent to Longfeng Wetland, the largest inland wetland in Asia. The wetland boasts beautiful natural scenery and soaring birds, showcasing a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Media personnel enjoyed the scenery and took photos here, which deepened their understanding of the environmental management of petrochemical enterprises and enhanced their understanding and recognition of Daqing Petrochemical Company's commitment to green development and high-quality development.
